Product Overview: The ARGH60CMTA-U is the largest model in the series, a 5 Ton (approx 60,000 BTU class) ducted split air conditioner designed for large villas, open commercial areas, warehouses, or halls (>80 m²). It operates on a 380–415V three-phase power supply and represents O General’s pinnacle of ducted split capacity for R32 inverter systems. The indoor unit is a substantial piece of equipment, with a height of 360 mm and a length of 1.4 m (similar to the 48k unit’s chassis, but optimized internal components). It has a powerful blower system to handle the high airflow needed for 5 Tons of cooling (up to ~3,400 m³/h). The outdoor unit (AOGH60CRTA-U) uses a heavy-duty inverter compressor capable of delivering over 15 kW of cooling at peak. At rated conditions (T1), the 60k provides 51,700 BTU/h (15.15 kW) of cooling, and it can push to around 58,900 BTU at maximum capacity. This unit is often chosen for large majlis, banquet halls, open-plan offices, or to cool multiple zones using one centralized unit with branch ducts. It maintains the series’ emphasis on efficiency and control, making it a versatile replacement for conventional non-inverter 5 Ton units commonly used in commercial settings.

  • Maximum cooling performance in a single split system – it’s capable of cooling large spaces quickly and maintaining comfort even when occupancy or heat loads fluctuate.
  • The inverter drive keeps the unit efficient at partial loads; for instance, it will draw far less power at night or during cooler days while still stabilizing the temperature.
  • The EER is about 11.62 BTU/W at T1, which is excellent for a unit of this size (many older 5 Ton units are ~8–10 EER). At T3, expect an EER around 8.8–9.0, as it delivers ~13.6 kW for ~5.27 kW input.
  • The three-phase design means the current per phase is moderate (around 7 A per phase at rated load), reducing stress on each phase and improving reliability.
  • The indoor unit, like the 48k, supports external static pressures up to 150 Pa, which is helpful in large duct networks or when using long duct runs to multiple outlets. 
  • Noise-wise, the indoor unit is rated around 41 dB(A) on High – notably, the 5 Ton’s indoor unit is actually slightly quieter on high speed than the 4 Ton (due to larger fans running a bit slower). On Quiet mode it’s about 38 dB(A).
  • The outdoor unit will produce more sound when running full tilt, but typically these are installed on rooftops or away from quiet areas; plus, it features a low-noise mode if needed, to cap the max speed during nighttime.

Installation requires careful planning: the indoor unit weighs ~67 kg, so proper mounting and support are essential, and the outdoor unit is also heavy (~97 kg), often placed on a concrete pad or sturdy roof frame.

Usage Note: The 60,000 BTU model is typically used in demanding applications. Because it’s a large system, professional installation is a must. Duct design should consider airflow distribution carefully to avoid hot spots in the served area – sometimes multiple branch ducts or additional booster fans might be used for very large floor plans. Given the high air volume, ensure the return air is not restricted (have a sufficiently large return grille and possibly a return plenum). Noise from airflow at the grilles might become a factor at full fan speed, so using larger duct sizes or more outlets to reduce air velocity can help. The system’s refrigerant lines for this model are larger (5/8" gas line); installers should carefully insulate them to prevent condensation. Also, because a lot of heat is rejected by the outdoor unit, position the outdoor in a well-ventilated area; if on a roof, consider the direction of prevailing winds and recirculation.

Maintenance: the large outdoor unit will benefit from twice-a-year cleaning given the UAE’s dusty environment (spring and fall). Filters on the indoor should be cleaned monthly due to the high airflow. Finally, users should note that while this unit can connect to smart controls, many opt to integrate it into a central control system especially in commercial setups – O General provides compatibility with centralized controllers for multiple indoor units and even integration kits for home automation or building management systems.
